lyrics

We were standing in the corner of the lookout by the shore. You were lifted on my shoulders and asked just what you saw
You said you saw three ships a-sailing and they’re coming on our way. You asked what do they carry, did I know and would I say?

Well, the first it carries barley, wheat and boxes wrapped in hay. While the second is an army to keep this war at bay, but the third it has no consequence whatever it’s cargo, ‘cos when its set to leave, well, that’s our chance to go

After the storm, after the waves subside. After the storm, after the mountain slides
That third ship will carry us away

Well once a generation comes a storm that’s on it own, where rivers come from nowhere and homes get over thrown. Well the first two ships were scuppered with all hands making shore, so it was through the mist and rain came the third ship that I saw

After the storm, after the waves subside. After the storm, after the mountain slides
That third ship will carry us away

But if the heart says no, well, its hard to leave those bonds and bridges, if the heart says no, well, its hard to leave those bonds and bridges. What the heart don’t know is the cracks under our feel don’t show and the horizon always comes around at the start of every morn. So if you ever want to leave just say, after storm, after the storm.
After the storm, after the waves subside. After the storm, after the mountain slides. That third ship will carry us away
